Ecclesiastes

Lesson 3Ecclesiastes 3:1 to 4:16

Bible

In this lesson, Solomon tells us there’s a time for everything. We can see from our study that Solomon really did have incredible wisdom and this week’s chapters are no exception.

Let’s begin by reading Chapters 3 and 4 then answer the following:

  1. Read verses 2 through 8 then make a list verse by verse and beside each one write down an example that describes what Solomon is talking about.
  2. Read verse 9, what is the answer? (see verses 12-13)
  3. What does verse 11 tell us about God and His creation?
  4. Read verses 14-22 then answer the following.
    1. We are to ______ God and be _______.
    2. What else does tell us there’s “a time for” in these verses?
  5. Read Chapter 4:1-3. When Solomon saw all of the oppressed around him who had no one to comfort them who did he turn to and congratulate?
    1. Of the dead, the living and the still to be created who did he think was the best and why?
  6. In chapter 4:4-8 what modern condition of mankind is Solomon describing here?
  7. In verses 9-12 Solomon lays out another excellent life principle for us, what is it?
  8. Read 4:13-16. What is Solomon warning us about as we get older?
    1. What is he telling us about the youth?

My prayer is that we would be “wise” enough to learn from the wisdom of Solomon. That as we continue our study we’ll be able to identify and apply to our lives some of what God is teaching us through Solomon’s writing. We should grow to be more controlled in our walk and our way of thinking, open to new ideas, willing to accept instruction, and wary of seeking after wealth, preferring to seek wisdom, and to seek God’s kingdom.

In Christ,

Wes
