Focused on defending human rights for those who can’t defend themselves, the IJM is a global organization seeking justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. Visit their website at www.ijm.org.

Based on your findings at IJM’s web site, answer the following:

1. Which countries is the IJM currently working in?
   1. ANSWER: Many countries, including Cambodia, the Philippines, Thailand, Malysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, India, Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, Romania, Bolivia, Guatemala, El Salvador, Colomia, and Peru.
2. Where is the IJM Headquartered?
   1. ANSWER: Washington, DC.
3. How does IJM intervene for victims in countries where injustices are occurring?
   1. ANSWER: Working internally in that specific country, they work with Local Authorities to get the injustice corrected.
4. There are three Casework Types that IJM supports; what are they?
   1. ANSWER: They are slavery, violence against women & children, and police abuse of power.
5. When was IJM founded?
   1. ANSWER: 1997.
6. Who founded IJM, and why did he do it?
   1. ANSWER: Gary Haugen, his work with the Rwandan Genocide and his knowledge of the great need for help for so many victims led him to form the IJM in 1997.
7. Why is Isaiah 1:17 a verse that applies to IJM?
   1. ANSWER: Because it exhorts us to "Seek justice, protect the oppressed, defend the orphan, plead for the widow."
8. Where does IJM gets its financial support?
   1. ANSWER: In 2015, IJM received 71% of its funding from individual donors, 12% from foundations and businesses, with the remainder coming from a variety of sources.

It’s encouraging to know that an organization like IJM is following God’s commands to defend the oppressed. With so much tragedy and abuse in the world around us, the success of the mission of IJM is another clear indication that God is on His throne, sees the injustice and is working through ministries like IJM to correct it. Let’s pray this week for the continued success of this ministry, and let’s pray for the end of slavery and sexual violence and oppression. Glory to God that through Christ there is hope for one and all, especially the violently oppressed.
