New Creature
"God doesn’t just give you new features; he makes you a new creature."
Back in nineteen hindered and sixty two A guy says to me, "Have I got news for you!" I said, "Now your message I don’t want to ignore; But I’ve heard all that stuff before."
You see, I didn’t realize I was on a precious perch, ‘Cause after all I’d grown up in the church! Gramps, gramma, aunts, uncles, cousins too, We’re devout Christians through and through. Though mom and dad were not regular attenders, They were great "to Sunday school senders"! Every meeting, activity, whenever they’d gather I had to be there no matter what elder I’d rather!
Since my family was godly, I thought I was too, But I found out, my friend that just won’t do. Then one day a young man came along, He was preaching Jesus in word and song; And I knew right from the start The Holy Spirit was tuggin’ at my heart. Then I remembered from years gone by How many times God really did try, To reach me He called loud and clear Well, I had ears, but I did not hear!
Now, I praise God and shout hallelujah He didn’t say, "Don, take what’s due ya!" Instead he rid my life of devils, demons and witches, And filled it full of his unsearchable riches! Jesus lights my life, its every feature. Since I’m in Christ, I’m a brand new creature!
