1 Thessalonians
The Church in Thessalonica was founded about A.D. 51, on Paul's Second Missionary Journey (Acts 17: 1-9) Paul wrote this letter to encourage the Thessalonians and assure them that those who had already died would be at no disadvantage when the Lord comes.
Though only there a short time, Paul's work created a great stir. His enemies accused him of "turning the world upside down" (Acts 17:6). A large number of God-fearing Greeks and prominent women believed (Acts 17:4). This was heralded all over Greece (1 Thessalonians 1: 8-9).
